Violin
A Fort Worth native, Channing Hooper started her violin studies at a young age under the teachings of Rosanne Leafblad and continued her studies with violinist Doreida Aleksi. In 2015 she earned a Bachelors of Music in violin performance from the University of North Texas under the study of Felix Olschofka. While at UNT, she was part of many jazz collaborations and recordings including performing in the premiere concert and recording of The Unity Orchestra lead by Drew Zaremba which featured guest artist Eddie Gomez of the Bill Evans Trio fame. Recordings outside of UNT have included a string quartet recording for Dallas band These Machines Are Winning’s new album Beach Boys in Candy Land and recording a track for gold record winning guitarist John Nitzinger on his album titled “Kiss of the Mudman.” Channing has been teaching in the DFW area for nine years. Her recent teaching experiences have included teaching at the North Texas Music Academy in Highland Village, Music by Ross, and teaching privately in the Carrollton and Lewisville ISDs. Her students who partake in UIL competitions through their schools have all received the highest marks. Through teaching she aims to build confidence and proper technique as well as a musical sensitivity and understanding within her students. She frequently plays in area symphonies such as the Dallas Chamber Symphony, Texarkana Symphony, Lyric Stage Orchestra, and the Midland-Odessa Symphony. She has recently played in concert with major artists such as Michael Bublé, Ben Folds, Disturbed, Josh Groban, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and has performed in many places throughout the United States and abroad, including the Meyerson Symphony Center, the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, and in Lima and Arequipa, Peru.
